Thank you so much to the team at A1 Travel for all of their assistance in getting our Barcelona adventure planned and booked. Maureen really kept up with as we went back and forth to try and get everything planned out perfectly for mom’s birthday adventure. We stayed at the very fun and modern Ilunion Hotel in the Poblenou neighborhood. This neighborhood is perfect with all of the shops and bistros that line Rambla del Poblenou and the side streets. The hotel is just a few blocks from the Mediterranean and has a great Spanish style breakfast buffet of local meats, cheeses, eggs, coffee fruit, pastries and much more. Plus the hotel is just a short walk from two metro stops and the tram. The Sagrada Famillia, Park Guell, and the modernism movement in Barcelona make for some unreal sites to visit. Make sure to work with A1 to get the skip-the-line passes and book your private tours. Maureen also found some time for us to squeeze in a wine and cava tour and a trip to Montserrat. The monastery on Montserrat is a site to behold with impressive views from the mountain. If you love wine, the Spanish wineries will quickly become some of your new favorites. The Joan Leon winery let us sample the grapes, it was unbelieve to see how Freixenet stores a hundred million bottles of cava, and Torres welcomed us in like old friends with cheese, wine and local meats. We also found some time to listen to some of the bands playing along the Mediterranean for the La Merci festival. Mom and I had an absolutely amazing time and can’t wait to work with A1 Travel to go back!
Take in the other-worldy architecture of Antoni Gaudí and then take a break at the city beach. This Mediterranean port has the perfect combination of culture and relaxation.
